Runs 100% locally on Apple Silicon

Turn any photo into a 3D model.
Entirely on your Mac.

3D Mate generates textured, print-ready 3D models from your photos with on-device AI. No cloud, no account, no uploads. Your images and models never leave your Mac.

Free during the beta. Version 0.9.130. Sign up and the download link is yours right away. Requires macOS 15 or later on Apple Silicon.

Real models generated by 3D Mate from single photos.

Photo in, model out

One photo is all it takes.

Each of these started as an ordinary picture. 3D Mate cut out the subject, reconstructed the geometry, and baked the texture. Drag any of them.

Built native for the Mac

A serious 3D pipeline, without the pipeline.

3D Mate is a native SwiftUI app powered by state-of-the-art image-to-3D models running on Apple Silicon. It feels like a Mac app because it is one.

On-device AI engines

State-of-the-art image-to-3D models, tuned for Apple Silicon and Metal. Install the engines you want from inside the app, then generate offline.

Smart cutout

Automatic background removal with a review editor, so the model is built from exactly the subject you meant, not the clutter behind it.

Live 3D preview

Watch the model take shape while it generates, with a live point-cloud preview at every stage. Pause and resume whenever you like.

Multi-view input

One photo works. Two to four photos of the same object work even better, giving the model a real back instead of a guessed one.

Batch queue

Drop in a folder of images and walk away. The queue survives quits, crashes, and updates, and picks up right where it left off.

Library with turntables

Every generation lands in a library with hover turntables, bulk export, and full job history. Nothing gets lost between sessions.

Inspect it from every angle.

Export transparent stills, spinning turntable videos, and camera-path flyovers, ready to post. Add an optional watermark and source-photo badge.

Queue a batch, come back to models.

Generation is staged and recoverable. Start a batch before lunch and come back to a library of finished, textured models.

  • Queue as many images as you like
  • Pause and resume mid-generation
  • Crash and update recovery re-queues interrupted work

Exports

Export where your work lives.

Game engines, AR, DCC tools, and the 3D printer on your desk. Every model exports to the formats your workflow already speaks.

3D Mate export formats for Unreal, Unity, AR Quick Look, and Blender
GLB
USDZ
OBJ
STL
PLY
3MF

USDZ drops straight into AR Quick Look on iPhone and Vision Pro. STL and 3MF go straight to your slicer.

Privacy

Local-first is not a feature. It is the architecture.

Most photo-to-3D tools upload your images to someone else's GPU. 3D Mate is the whole pipeline, running on yours.

No cloud. 100% on your Mac. 3D Mate is private, works offline, keeps files local, and needs no servers
No cloud

Generation runs on your Mac's own GPU. Unplug the network and it still works.

No account

Download, open, generate. There is nothing to sign up for and nothing to log in to.

No uploads

Your photos, models, and job history stay on your Mac and the drive you choose. No analytics either.

How 3D Mate works in three steps: drop in a photo (JPG, PNG, or HEIC), review the output and hit Generate while 3D Mate AI builds the model, then preview, export, and print in GLB, USDZ, OBJ, STL, PLY, or 3MF
Use cases

Made for how you work.

One app, many workflows. Pick yours.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

How do I get 3D Mate?
Join the free beta with your email at the signup page. The download link appears right after you sign up, and we email you when big updates ship. The app keeps itself current after that.
What do I need to run 3D Mate?
A Mac with Apple Silicon (M1 or newer) running macOS 15 or later. 16 GB of RAM or more is recommended for the highest quality settings. Model weights are downloaded once from inside the app and stored on a drive you choose.
Is it really free?
Yes, while 3D Mate is in beta the full app is free. A paid license will arrive with 1.0, and beta users will get a fair deal when it does.
Does anything leave my Mac?
No. Generation runs entirely on your Mac's GPU. There are no uploads, no accounts, and no analytics. The app only touches the network to download engines and model weights you request, and to check for app updates.
How long does a generation take?
On an M1 Pro, a balanced-quality model takes about 8 to 10 minutes, and the highest quality setting takes about an hour. Newer chips are faster. You can queue a batch and let it run unattended.
Can I 3D print the results?
Yes. Export STL or 3MF and drop the file into your slicer. Meshes are exported watertight-oriented and print-ready, and the built-in viewer's clay material is a quick way to check the geometry first.
How does the app update?
3D Mate updates itself with Sparkle, the standard macOS update framework. Every update is code-signed, notarized by Apple, and verified against the app's embedded key before installing.
